Payment links
Shareable links that sell a product or collect a payment, with your own form fields.
A payment link is a page you can share anywhere (by message, email, social media or a QR code) where a customer fills in their details and pays. Use one to sell a product at a fixed price, or the default link to accept any amount.
Creating a payment link
Click New Payment Link. The form has five sections:
| Section | Fields |
|---|---|
| Product Information | The product's name, description, image and quantity. The quantity is for information only: it doesn't multiply the price or track stock. |
| Pricing | The currency and the amount the customer pays. |
| Availability | The status (Active or Inactive) and an optional expiry date. |
| After Payment | Where to send the customer after paying (optional). Without one, the customer sees the gateway's own status page. |
| Customer Input Fields | Extra questions to ask the customer (see below). |
Every link gets a permanent ID like pl_x8Kq2mWz9aVb and its own address. Use Copy URL in the list to copy it.
What the customer fills in
Every payment link asks for the customer's name and email, and optionally their phone. The amount comes from the link and can't be changed. After submitting, the customer is taken to your checkout page to choose a gateway.
A customer is recognised by their email: a returning customer is linked to their existing record, and a blocked customer can't pay.
Customer Input Fields
Add your own questions to the form, such as a delivery address, a size, or a document. For each field, choose:
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Field Type | Text, Textarea, Select, Radio, Checkbox or File. |
| Field Name | The label the customer sees. |
| Field Key | A short internal name, filled in from the field name. Lowercase letters, numbers and underscores. Must be unique within the link. |
| Required | Whether the customer must answer. |
| Options | For Select, Radio and Checkbox: the choices. At least one is needed. |
| File Extensions | For File: which file types are accepted. |
Drag fields to change their order.
The customer's answers appear on the transaction's More Info tab. Uploaded files are stored privately: they can only be downloaded from the transaction page, by staff who can view transactions. Each file can be up to 5 MB, and only documents and images are accepted (jpg, jpeg, png, webp, gif, pdf, txt, csv, doc, docx, xls, xlsx), even if you allow other extensions.
The default link
Default Link in the page header gives you one link per currency that isn't tied to a product. The customer enters their details and the amount, then pays. It's useful as a general "pay me" link.
Choose a currency, then copy the link, or download its QR code as SVG or PNG to print or share. Nothing is saved: the link is built from the currency, so it keeps working as long as you have gateways that can take the payment.
Managing links
The list shows each link's Product Name, Product Description, Amount, Quantity, Status, Expires At and Created At. Filter by status, currency or whether a link has expired, and search by name, description or link ID.
- Inactive and expired links show a "not found" page instead of the form.
- Delete removes the link and its custom fields. Payments already made through it are kept.
If a customer submits twice
A customer who double-clicks, or goes back and submits the same form again, doesn't pay twice: Paybob continues the payment that form already started. To make a separate payment, the customer reloads the page first.
Permissions
Viewing, creating, editing and deleting payment links each have their own permission. Default Link has its own permission too, so a role can share the default link without managing products. See Staff and roles.
